Doctor of Letters and expert, he had already served a first term as president of the Sorbonne University from 1998 to 2003. Former director of the Revue XVII century, he was also the author of numerous publications and about hundreds of scientific papers. He passed away in June 2014. George Molinié profoundly marked our university: first as a teacher in French language, as a real rhetorician as he liked to say, but also and especially in the various administrative functions that he has fulfilled, such as director of UFR, vice-president of the scientific council, and twice as president.During his second term, he had the heavy burden of making Paris-Sorbonne, with success, a fully autonomous university in accordance with the wishes of its legislator.
